Hiked the long path from the road to kaaterskill high peak. Long path here follows a snow mobile trail which is badly eroded lots of standing water. Trail to high peak is unmarked but easy to follow.
Awesome place for a hike. The falls are amazing
Went to the waterfall with my 3-year-old. It's pretty easy, took us less than 20 min.
The parking is tricky.
We had to wait for a car to leave and it took about 15 minutes.
The park ranger drives up and down the street issuing $100 tickets. I even saw a car get towed.
Upon walking to the entry, we found a easy to use map along with spectacular views. One of the best after Katerskill.
The hiking path to waterfall was fair..a little steep but acceptable...I will be back
Platte Clove is A beautiful place. No marker for the waterfall.Crossed the bridge and followed the yellow markers. Slippery and muddy right now so A bit hard to navigate. Can't wait to go back mid spring or early summer when the trails are clear. Read another review that if you go towards the Red house instead of the trail going to the bridge it will take you to the waterfall. That's good information. Thank you.
The trail to the falls was worth the struggle through the snow. Amazing frozen waterfalls and even more amazing frozen ice flows on canyon walls. No wonder ice climbers were everwhere. The Overlook trail had deep snow and didn't offer any great views, considering the snow cover on the trails and surrounding areas.
