(August 7, 2023, 8:41 am)The Shofuso was built in 1953 as a gift from Japan to American citizens. The gift was to symbolize post-war peace and friendship between the two countries. The house was so peaceful and fragile so I didn’t take pictures inside! It’s a bit small but once finished with the tour, I recommend exploring the parts of the park outside the enclosed house and pond!

(June 21, 2023, 7:23 pm)Took grandmom here today to see something beautiful today.the garden did not disappoint. I wish it was larger. It only took 15 mins to walk around the whole space. Grandma enjoyed it. It was not handicapped accessible so we left her walker in the car and brought only her cane. I held her hand along the pathways and it was fine, be careful with family members with limited mobility otherwise it was nice to see.

(May 9, 2023, 5:49 pm)What an amazing place to relax! The garden and the house are well maintained, and the tour guides are super friendly and knowledgeable. You can also feed the extremely friendly koi ($2 a cup of fish food), and they have a little gift shop.
The Japanese house is step up, and it recommends you wear socks (for the tatami), but they have toss away foot covers if you forget.
There is a bathroom, but a wheelchair may be hard to get into most of the garden.
We got there 2 hours before closing on a Saturday, and it was a little busy, but it didn't affect our ability to sit and enjoy the views. I can imagine midday it's probably a little too much.
Absolutely go whenever you can to experience it, but if you want a true peaceful garden view, go during the week (or become a member and go after hours)! -

Best time to come is in the rain when the rain chains around the property are actively producing their calming sounds. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Great place to learn more about Japanese culture. -

(April 2, 2023, 11:19 pm)We visited here for the first time. It was a light rain, but the pink color of the cherry blossoms complemented the beauty of the Japanese garden in spring. Plants and trees are planted throughout the four seasons, so no matter what season you visit, you should be able to enjoy each scene.
