This preserve is located on Beale Street off of Penllyn-Blue Bell Pike in Blue Bell in Montgomery County. Trailhead starts at the picnic table after you pass through the parking lot. Nice quiet place to get you away from the traffic noise. Great place to walk a dog because you have open fields with feeder lanes and wooded trails as well. The trails through the preserve will lead you to the Camp Woods which I have also heard them called the King's Woods. Supposedly a campsite during Revolutionary War times. Their are parking lots for both areas.
Preserve in Ambler PA. The walking area is mowed meadows or dirt trails through the woods.
Depending how fast you walk you can do the loop through the woods in 30 minutes to an hour. You also may stop and look at the scenery.
There are no benches throughout the loop.
We did see some birds and had a deer snort at us from just a few yards away during our walk around the loop.
There are a few areas where it is very narrow. It is a single file walk in most areas throughout the wooded area.
The meadows are passable for large groups.
Very pretty underused and hidden trail. It’s mostly shade. The path starts out as uneven packed dirt which gives you some solid footing. But after a rain storm it’s probably muddy. As you enjoy the scenery keep your eyes on the path. You will get a workout from the up, down, around, and over trail walking. The first area seems like old farmland roads, scenic and relaxing. Once you are at Camp Woods you’ll notice the difference. The scenery made me feel like I was deep in a forest. But you’re not because Morris Rd is not far. The tall trees are beautiful, the terrain is curvy, hilly and more unpredictable so watch where you step. The 2+ miles takes longer to walk than a paved path and the terrain makes for a good workout. I very much enjoyed the hike. Go around twice and you’ve walked 4+miles.
Beautiful spot for hiking! Meadows and woodlands. Trees are incredibly majestic in the forest and I spotted lots of butterflies, bees, and other pollinators in the meadows. Trail connects to Camp Woods.
Nice path, mostly tree covered, watch out for dog poo near parking lot off of Beale St.
