Beautiful and easy trail around the lake to do with family. There are a lot of benches to enjoy a peaceful morning and evening. Early in the morning you might see some active wildlife around you. The blue trail is 2 miles long. There are pay and park machines installed in the two parking lots. Parking fee is $7 which is a bit high.
Teatown Lake Reserve it's a beautiful place to take a hike or sit on one of the many benches and watch birds and wildlife. There are multiple trails and your leashed dog is welcome to a company you. Very peaceful and a great place to take the whole family.
Even in winter this reservation is a beautiful hiking experience. Lots of trails, dog friendly, and good parking spaces (paid). The watershed passes through the reservation's grounds and there are three decent sized lakes with hilly surroundings and some marshlands.
One of my favorite places in the area to take a mini-hike. $5 day fee parking (they have solar-powered digital kiosks for your convenience-they need the fee to keep the grounds running). I explored the Cliffdale Farm on the west side and saw a Barr owl. The loop around the lake is quite lovely (lots of fish, turtles, and spied a grey heron). During the week is peaceful and they offer wonderful nature programs for kids and adults just check their site.
Teatown Lake Reservation is beautiful. It only costs $5 to park there for the day and there are many trails you can try out. The blue trail or lakeside trail is only 1.5 miles and good for kids. Though a stroller would be hard to take around the entire trail since there are some bumpy spots. We saw baby ducks and a few herons on the lake, too!
