  Beautiful place. Terrible, confusing signage about private property and the Appalachian Trail and whatnot.

  Started at the Wind Gap entrance to the Appalachian Trail and the first mile is the roughly 700 foot climb up out of Wind Gap heading south on the trail. The trail has a few switchbacks which makes the climb easier than going straight up the side of the mountain. Maybe 3/4 mile on the trail, there's a lookout to the right, not marked but the trail to the lookout is easy to see and there's a lot of large rocks to climb if you like rock climbs. Another 1/4 mile is Hahn's Lookout on the left and Pedestal Rock is a nice place to grab pictures and take a break.
  From there you're on top of the mountain and the elevation is fairly stable. Trail is rocky, should wear hiking boots. I did it in running shoes but the lack of ankle support is not good for longer hikes. There's a small area on the right to pitch a tent and there was a fire pit there as well and a view looking northwest and this is maybe 1/2 mile from Hahn's lookout
  From there it's nothing special til you get to the fire line and then it's a pretty decent lookout both ways if you wade through the tall grass. Past that another couple miles or so is a power line cutout with another nice view. Past that is a shelter and spring off the trail that is marked. Past that is really lots of rocks and not much else til you get to Smith Gap Road. I had a tad over 16 miles out and back. Enjoyable, but once and done for me. Ill explore other sections of the AT.

  Great hike with some rewarding views. Plenty of opportunity to kill some spotted lantern flies. Really enjoyable section to hike. No water along 8 mile section due to zinc mining

  Did a section hike of the Appalachian Trail from Wind Gap to Lehigh Gap, southbound. A lot of diversity of ecosystems along the way, some great views and 1 difficult descent at Lehigh (if you're heading north it's just as tough to ascend) so if you are afraid of heights or have trouble with vertical climbing you might want to skip the Lehigh Gap end.
  
  If you plan on hiking the southern section, from Lehigh Gap to Little Gap bring water. The old zinc mining operation there has made the water unsafe to drink, even filtered.
