My Son Giovanni is a student with Simon I could not be more grateful and excited for Giovanni’s future. Simon’s studio is an amazing place with a Fabulous atmosphere of seeing what hard work and a great teacher can accomplish. We are very great full to be a part of Simon’s program. Thank You again Simon! Here’s to a great 2023!! Peter Franzoso
I’ve been taking lessons with Simon for close to a year now and it’s been an absolute joy. I’ve taken lessons on other instruments with other teachers in the past, and I’ve never felt that they helped me much. Working with Simon is a completely different experience. He’s a keen observer and a consummate professional. He’s always two steps ahead of you and anticipates your needs like a Gypsy with a crystal ball. He answers your questions before you have a chance to ask them and has a way of getting to the root of the obstacles that impede your progress. It’s obvious that he knows his craft and is an excellent teacher. If you really want to learn from the best, then Simon is the only choice in this area. His drum store is also great. Don’t waste your time at the big box music retailers for your percussion needs. Simon will hook you up right and guide you well.
Our son has had the privilege of taking percussion with Simon for 5 years, and in that time he's worked predominantly on snare but also on timpani and accessory instruments. Simon is a super-talented professional who is firm but friendly and has a real knack for tailoring instruction in a way that brings out the best work in his students. Even via Zoom, he is engaging and supportive. In addition to lessons, Simon has guided us in purchasing equipment, organized regular ensembles and concerts to give students a chance to perform in groups and solo, helped our son prepare for NYSSMA (including Area All-State and All-State), and recorded and edited performance videos for his college applications. We are so grateful to have Simon as a mentor to our son – we recommend him highly.
I'm an adult student who's been studying with Simon for several months. Simon is a highly talented musician, but he's also an excellent teacher. He's enthusiastic and supportive, and he holds his students to high standards. I think he'd be an excellent teacher and role model for children.
My son has been taking drum lessons with Simon for the past year and I highly recommend him as a world class drum and percussion teacher and, more importantly, as an inspiring music mentor. I've watched my son mature and develop, become autonomous, driven, motivated, prepared and excited to learn in his time with Simon. Simon has high expectations from his students and inspires his students to work hard to be their best. He holds the bar high, has a meticulous ear, detailed critiques, constructive feedback, direct communication and a deep well of empathy, energy and encouragement to guide his students through climbing the little hills on their way to conquering mountains. My son loves him and eagerly looks forward to every lesson and I've seen this passion and newfound work ethic spill over into other aspects of his life. Simon is a gift as a teacher and we are lucky to have him and his school in our area.
