Anyone interested in learning a bit about the history of the area should definitely check out this museum. It's small, but the exhibits were very well done.
Nice, quaint yet modern, small to medium sized museum. My wife and I checked out an exhibit on 20th century, modern architecture in Putnam County. Excellent selection and easy to reach by foot from main street. Decent collection of books and postcards for sale as well as water, juice and soda. Gallery director was friendly.
Definitely worth the visit for curious minds and people who appreciate history—which this county has a lot of.
This is the coolest little museum I’ve been to in awhile. I very much appreciated the suffragette movement content.
This quaint museum is on the site of the West Point Foundry, where some of the first locomotives used in New York were constructed. A large variety of military cannons were manufactured here, including large ‘300 pounders’ because they launched a 300 pound projectile from a rifled barrel. Make a day trip of this visit and include a hike on one of the beautiful hiking trails that are in very close proximity.
Small but fascinating museum of area history. Well organized, with a nice shop selling books.
Also information on and access to the West Point Foundry park.
