Had a gent named Bruno show us around. He was knowledgeable and very pleasant. We had the grands with us( 3 years and 2 years) and he kept them engaged for most of the time. The inside museum has tons of displays and a helicopter cockpit to sit in. All in all it's a good place to go if you're interested in aircraft.
Very nice museum. If your kids or you love planes then this is a definite must see. The inside is full of model scale planes and so much history. Outside has the big planes and choppers. So much to see for everyone. The gift shop is also fairly priced to bring home a souvenir of your visit.
This site is fantastic with around 20 full-scale aircraft, engines and missiles/rockets presented both indoors and outdoors. Helpful staff briefly explain the layout and the history of the grounds, and you are then provided with a folder of information if you want to read above and beyond the displays themselves. I have visited the Strategic Air Command Museum im Nebraska, the Air and Space Smithsonian, the Deutsches Museum in Munich, and McGuire/Lakehurst AFB (Hindenburg crash site) and this experience ranks up there with the best of them. While there were no aircraft with open cockpits for us to sit in or see directly into with open doors (not Friday anyway), it’s still a spectacular hour’s worth of a museum experience, and I still give it 5 stars being that it includes indoor and outdoor exhibits! Kids under 6 were free, woohoo! Yes, go here!!!
Very cool museum. Staff is very friendly and well-informed. My 7-year old grandson had a wonderful time, and it brought back many memories for me
Great little museum with the nicest staff. They are very child friendly as well which was great for my three under 6. The staff told us they will be expanding soon (adding 14 acres) so we will definitely be back again.
P.S. kids under 6 and active duty military are free.
He arranged to have the plane, an Arado, transported to Willow Grove and, by 1947, there were two planes along the fence of the Air Station. Through the years, the small collection grew. In the 1960s I flew out of Willow Grove on a C-119 to a Civil Air Patrol summer camp and I remember being intrigued by the display of planes along the fence.
