  1st mile is smooth but trail has a fairly rough section between Amenia and Coleman Station with cracked pavement. Later in the season last year, plant matter built up and was sticky and a little slick. Wild phlox near Millerton are lovely.

  An absolute gem of a rail trail, one of the best I’ve ever ridden. Very well maintained, uncrowded, and dozens of side roads in the area so you’re not just riding an out-and-back. Generally uphill from Wassaic to the south until just past Millerton. Then slightly downhill to level until the trail’s end at Orphan Farm Road. Just about 25 miles, so far, if you ride the whole thing. Scenery is terrific with rolling farmland and the Taconic range. Go in the fall for outstanding foliage.

  The headquarters of the organization which maintains Harlem Valley's Rail Trail, an ambitious project to blaze 73 km (~45 miles) of trail between Wassaic and Chatham. Idyllic scenery along the trail, with benches placed at some more scenic spots.

Welcome to the Harlem Valley Rail Trail, two sections totaling 26+ paved miles through stunning rural Dutchess and Columbia County landscapes. Since the mid-1980's, the Harlem Valley Rail Trail Association has dreamed of a 46-mile rail trail in the Harlem Valley and Taconic Hills of eastern New York. The first segment of the trail opened in 1996.
