(May 8, 2022, 12:58 am)The Charles and Lois Beach Preserve has parking for three vehicles off the road. The trailhead and kiosk are a short walk from the parking area.
The terrain is quite varied, with two moderately steep hills. The blue trail is blazed better than the red trail, with red going up the hills.
A sign at the kiosk warns of ticks and poison ivy. The two areas where you will likely encounter ticks is walking from the kiosk into the woods, and along the gas corridor, which features tall grass.
The trails are not paved, and go over old roads, stones, and some muddy areas. The preserve is pretty, but not easy to traverse for those requiring assistance.
The bench at the center of the preserve allows for pleasant seat in the forest.
The day was breezy, but I suspect buggy during a less windy day.
A single deer was seen. Numerous Trillium erectum plants were in evidence.
Thanks to the Hartland Land Trust for creating the trail.
