  Good road birding. No trails and very thick under cover. No hiking trails. Many boreal species. Pine Siskins, Red Crossbills, Ravens, Red-breasted Nuthatches.

  Wilderness camping baby. Where you can be free in nature as It was intended. Great spot to camp for a few days. Has several spots to pull off the side of the road and park. Do not drive into the campsite. Park on the dirt road and bring your gear in.

  Willowemoc Wild Forest is a nice place for a hike, it has a number of interesting visual attractions, and it’s not heavily traveled. Given the quality of the forest and its upkeep, this makes it something of a hidden (or less noticeable) gem. As others point out: be aware that several of the trails are prime snowmobile routes, so do pay extra attention to your surroundings while there is snow on the ground.

  Winter hiking recommend trails. Parking lot is packed dirt, and looks adequate for numerous cars. We did the Long Pond Trailhead. Start of the trail is hilly, but then becomes level for most of the way. We only did 4 miles round-trip. No snowshoes, or anything resembling adequate winter gear. One word of caution: this is prime snowmobile trails. Hope to come here next year with some proper gear and do the full trail.
