    There are two excellent hiking trails with water views, viewing platforms six plus Osprey nests and an Eagle nest. The trails are well maintained through marsh land and woods with a variety of wildlife to match. The Visitor Center has restroom facilities and a preserve diorama. A very pleasant spot to destress and enjoy nature. Trails vary from one to three plus miles. There are wheelchair accessible ramps and facilities.

    I love Wertheim national wildlife refuge. Beautiful Serene and inspiring place. I go there to walk and breathe every weekend.

    Roughly .7 miles South of the Old Visitors Center on the White Oak Trail is the first of two marsh overlooks. Arrive quietly and slowly and you could be surprised by ducks, geese, swans, hawks, eagles and river otters to name a few. You might even spot deer, wild turkey, or red fox on your way down.
