We enjoyed a delicious dinner!
Food was fresh, menu is not large which is great bc it can be overwhelming and from our experience a smaller menu usually means more quality and care is taken.
My hubby had the steak fritz, I had the carrot soup and we had the whipped riccota appetizer. Kids had the pasta and cheeseburger. The fries were delicious!
Cherry cosmo was fresh and tasty. For dessert we had the chocolate chip cookie and vanilla Sunday-so yummy! Also it was my little guys 5th birthday and the staff came over to sing to him which was so special.
If we’re ever in the area we will for sure be back.
Catskill Mountain Shakespeare celebrated their cast party for the second year in a row at Union + Post in their upstairs lounge. The lounge is private and comfortable (but also airy as it looks down onto the restaurant below and even offers an outdoor space). Working with Ola to prep for the event was easy. We had two speciality cocktails and snacks and everything was wonderful. Our bartender and her assistant were personable and fun! We will definitely return. Thanks again Union + Post!!
Wife and I were staying nearby so we thought we would give this place a try.
We were there midweek in the summer so we didn't need reservations. From what we heard, you may need them on weekends.
Inside the place is inviting. You walk through the bar area and get to either the deck or the inside tables. We chose indoors as I really don't enjoy mosquitoes.
The staff was good. They knew the specials and we had the Caribbean black bean and beef soup to start. The waitress confided that it was a bit spicy. She may know her way around the tables but she didn't know spicy. Both the wife and I enjoy a little spice but this soup was more sweet than spicy. It was GREAT. Black beans, plenty of beef, potatoes, carrots and peas in a dark beef broth. I could have eaten another bowl or two, but more delights waited. Even the wife ate all her soup, so not spicy at all. Delicious.
The wife had the mushroom ravioli. She was not super enthusiastic about it. Mushrooms don't provide much taste on their own and neither does ravioli. Her suggestion was to cook it some red wine sauce but she only cooks for me so what can I say?
I ordered the lobster mac and cheese. It was a huge portion. The lobster blended with the mac and cheese quite well. The portion was ample, it tasted great and even the wife ate a fair amount.
We were both too full for dessert, even though the waitress tried to sell us on it.
All in all, well worth trying if you are in the area. We will be back if we are there.
This review is for Union + Post restaurant. We had dinner here tonight & it was a real treat. In recent months, several long-time Windham restaurants closed, so we had to choose a new place to try. Union + Post did not disappoint.
On a Sunday evening, we got a table at Union + Post which had some regulars in the restaurant, based on the reactions of the wait staff. The restaurant is very modern with wooden tables and comfortable seating. There is a nice patio outside with solo stoves and comfortable sofa seating, for those who prefer outdoor dining.
The menu is small but does have enough to choose from. Our party of 3 had the mushroom truffle ravioli, which were ok, the grilled asparagus which was amazing and the little gem salad with steak which was equally good.
They have a nice cocktail menu, as well as an extensive wine and beer list. My only complaint (and the reason for 4 vs 5 stars) is that they weren't busy, yet no one came to check on us. We'd have liked more water.
