  Our 10-year-old rescue dog (Brick) had to have TPLO surgery and we're so grateful for the week-by-week rehab information that we received from Top Dog.   The downloaded guide helped me a lot. BUT! You have to have time and energy to do what you and your dog have to do, and you have to pay attention to your dog's level of comfort. We are now 12 weeks post PTLO and operating around week 8. My guy is 10 years old. Also, involve your vet if you're unsure. but the guide gives great ideas (I would have never thought about curbs!) and has lots of helpful tips. If you have the time, do try!

  3 months ago, we brought our little dog Enzo with our 6-year-old granddaughter to the beach for a vacation. Enzo is a fetching machine. I threw the ball, he flew after it, screamed, and came back limping!
  
  When we got home and took him to our vet, he said yes, he shows positive cranial drawer sign. His suggestion was to take him home and treat him as if he had surgery, then bring him back in about a month to see how he was doing. Fortunately, my Google search landed me on Top Dog. I downloaded the Guide and proceeded with the protocol. Enzo was an excellent PT patient. That was a surprise because he had been an extremely active 10-year-old (not 11) 12-pound yellow Chihuahua/Terrier. He was confined with his cozy bed. When he could have more freedom in the house, we moved the furniture so he could no longer jump up & down. This was a total change of lifestyle to his being “on duty,” hopping on the back of the couch to bark at cars as they drove past our house. We only took him outside to “take care of business,” and always on a leash. (He could no longer bomb out the dog door to clear the area of squirrels.)
  
  After a little more than a month, we had an appointment with the surgeon and anesthesiologist and we scheduled surgery. It took awhile to get an appointment, so we just kept up with the schedule in the Guide. Last week, I received an amazing call the morning after dropping him off for surgery. The Doctor said he did not need surgery. After reviewing his x ray, examining him again, and asking the other surgeon to do the same, they decided he is doing well and to just keep doing what we are doing! So, I picked Enzo up and we are continuing to follow the schedule in the Guide.
