  Taconic State Park is a weekend get away for your summer bucket list.
  
  Is family friendly environment. My family & I did a beautiful hike to see the Copake Falls.
  
  You can reserved a cabin, or you can just bbq, go for bike ride or go for a swim.

  Taconic State Park is fantastic NY State campground. The park offers many things to do. It has easy access to the Bash Bish Falls hiking trail, Copake Iron Works, the Harlem Valley Bicycle Rail Trail, and many mountains on the New York State and Massachusetts border. There is a small swimming and fishing pond at the park near Bash Bish Falls. The bike trail is found near the entrance to the park. Across from the campground is a deli and general supply store for whatever you need
  If you have an Empire Pass and want to hike Bash Bish Falls or any other mountain near the area, it is best to park inside the campground to secure yourself a parking spot in case the lots outside the campground fill up.
  The park also has a southern section that offers more campgrounds, hiking, and fishing. The Rudd Pond area near Millerton is slightly less popular than the northern section, but it is pretty good and offers much to do. If you are staying the park you have access to both sections of it.
  The park has about 50 campsites. There are clean restrooms at the campground. You should make reservations online if you want a campsite at the park.

  Hike on the trail was beautiful along the creek. The falls are stunning! Beware that they have closed off the lower observation area so you really cannot get close to the falls, this was dispointing. Would recommend but with this knowledge in mind so your not disappointed like we were.

  I only saw a small part of the park, a walk out to Bash Bish Falls and then along the historic iron trail. Loved both. The hike to the falls is a gradual ascent so managable for most. Take your time and enjoy the beauty of the nearby brook. There are a LOT of posted rules because historically visitors have not respected the fragile ecology of the area. Perhaps the more stringent restrictions will keep people out of the water...but its too pretty to lose. Walk softly and embrace the beauty so we may all enjoy it.
