  Let's face it. Nursing homes all have their problems. This one has a history of exceptional service to the community. It is now no longer owned by the Catholic Church so it is run differently. The Sister Servants of Mary are still involved but the business end of it is out of their hands (from what I have heard). With that said they are still in a nice peaceful location, with no highways

  Leaving my grandmother's room, my vision was so obstructed by my crying that I tripped a nurse. I apologized through gasps of air. My grandmother is dying and I am not ready. The nurse knew both of these things. She took me to an empty room and held me as the snot and tears ran from my face to her chest. She didn’t say much, and frankly, there was nothing she could say.
  
  I watch my grandmother’s daughters angrily attack the staff because they can’t prevent her from dying. It's hard to accept that the people who spent their entire lives preparing us for this moment, the moment we'd be forced to face the world without them, are in the final stage of abandonment.
  
  Dying is the last thing we do. My grandmother has made peace with this and maybe she even welcomes it. But I, along with my family, am not quite ready to accept it. I would like to thank the staff, and this one nurse in particular, for their warmth and attempts to help us make our own peace.
