  The Poindexter Nature Preserve is an absolutely wonderful place to spend time in nature. This beautiful preserver situated in the heart of connecticut, offering visitors a chance to experience the natural beauty and wildlife in a peaceful and serene environment.
  
  One of the things that makes the Poindexter Preserve so special is its hiking trails. The trail system takes about an hour to walk in its entirety so it is a great fit for a short, easy walk
  
  In addition to hiking, there are many activities to enjoy at Poindexter preserve. Bird watching is particularly popular as it is the home to a wide variety of bird species including hawks, owls, and bluebirds.
  
  The only downside is that parking is limited. There are spots for three or four cars on the side of the road opposite the entrance to the preserve.
  
  Overall, I would highly recommend a visit to the Poindexter Preserve. Whether you're an experienced hiker or simply looking for a peaceful place to reconnect with nature, this preserve has something to offer everyone. With its stunning scenery, diverse wildlife, and low usage, Poindexter is the true gem that should not be missed. More information and directions is available on the Aspatuck Land Trust website

  On June 19, 2022 a bear was observed in the park and a warning sign was posted.
  Most likely the bear was passing through as there is no water or food in the area, greener pastures are elsewhere.
  
  Not too far away from the park, the bear has been sighted on July 25 in a 🍓 patch.
  
  Be 🐻 aware!
