This review is long overdue. I don’t know if there are words to relay just how much appreciation I have for the entire team at Plantsville Funeral Home. I lost my dad from Parkinson’s in July 2022, and then my mother, unexpectedly, only six months later, in January 2023. It has been a very hard time for me and my family. I had been walking around, numb, and in a bubble, for the past two years since my daughter and I moved abruptly, across the country, back home to Connecticut to care for my elderly parents.
Whenever someone I knew lost someone special to them, I would always offer them my sincere condolences, and I would feel deeply sorry for their loss. I would wish them peace and love, and let them know that they were in my thoughts and prayers. However, I never really knew just how much it hurts or just how much needs to be taken care of after a loved one passes away. I had no idea exactly how they felt or what they actually went through until I experienced these losses, and what followed, for myself. The pain is more excruciating than I could have ever imagined. It’s definitely a process. There are a myriad of details that need to be taken care of at a time that you are grieving and exhausted.
Plantsville Funeral Home held my hand through it all and helped me to get through it. My parents were married for 62 years and they were “our everything” to me and my daughter. My dad passed away first, and since I had never been through this before, I really didn’t know exactly what to do or exactly how to start the process. I called the funeral home for help and initially spoke with Lauren. It was like my dad sent me an angel to help me to get through the things that lied ahead. Lauren was so calming and comforting. She guided me graciously through everything, one step at a time. She made it easier and helped me to not forget anything. She helped me to make difficult decisions during a time when my heart was broken and I wasn’t at my best. I honestly don’t know what I would’ve done without her. Lauren is a professional and kind person who takes care business. She doesn’t overlook even the smallest detail. I had been a wedding planner and designer for 16 years and my daughter and I joked that Lauren was me as a Funeral Director. She just knew exactly what I wanted and needed and took care of everything.
Lauren’s team is the most amazing group of human beings, who are also professional, kind, caring, and very patient. I’d like to give my heartfelt thanks to all of them as well. Kate, Nick, Shay, and all of the team. Kate! Kate is extraordinary. Kate goes above and beyond and helped me through everything. She talked to me whenever I needed and was always available to me at any time to answer any of the many questions that I had. Kate helped me create the most beautiful memorial photo slide shows for both of my parents. Kate was just wonderful to me in every way. I’ll never forget everything that she did for me and my family. The entire team at Plantsville Funeral Home always made us feel valued, and like we were the only family that they were helping.
Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for being there for me and my family and helping us through it all. Thank you all for helping me to honor my parents with such care, dignity and class that they deserved. ❤️
My father passed unexpectedly and I was pretty much lost as to how to handle after-death responsibilities.
My father lived in Southington and I had been to a few services at Plantsville Funeral Home, so naturally it made sense to get information from them.
I stopped in unannounced (my mind was such a mess it hadn't occurred to me that it was probably best to make an appointment) however they were able to accommodate me immediately. Not once did they make me feel like I was imposing by going there without an appointment.
Right from the outset and throughout the whole process Lauren and her team (everyone I came into contact with) were incredible. At no point did I ever feel like our interactions were rushed and I never once got the impression that I was a 'paycheck'. I didn't feel like I was trying to be upsold on anything either. I was instructed in detail how the entire process works, step by step, which helped put my mind at ease as they set the proper expectation and held to it.
I was asked a lot of questions to get a sense of who my father was and I liked that they were personalizing this to him. That may be commonplace in their line of work but in this day and age it's difficult to find a business that cares about their clients.
The service was wonderful and more than I expected. The value provided by their products and services was far greater than their fee, which itself was very realistic.
I can say that my father's passing has been the most awful moment in my life. I cannot overstate what an amazing job that the entire team at Plantsville Funeral Home did from start to finish, in making this a bit easier for me.
Thank you so much Lauren, Nick, Bob, Kate, and Shay, for everything you've done!

The reader, I am sure, will agree the last step with our parents is very difficult and emotional. We want to celebrate their life in a memorable way. A manner with which we can rest in peace as we send them to heaven. For that to happen you need a professional, understanding, and flexible team at the Funeral Home. Lauren and Mark exceeded my expectations. I was listened to very well and they treated me as a member of their family. I felt their honest support with the multitude of tasks required for a successful conclusion. The way the understood my mother was also noteworthy. The flower arrangements displayed at the Altar was exceptionally beautiful. They had all the colors my mother loved. The same arrangement was transferred to the Titanium Theater where we held "the Celebration of Life." Lauren and Mark's suggestion of a Columberium nitch was the best idea to rest my Mother's Ashes in a respectful way. Great suggestion. From my point of view, Plantsville Memorial Funeral Home Staff reduced the stress thay comes with these times significantly. I, honestly, recommend their services.
We have had many lovely family funerals at Plantsville Memorial, but this time it was our Mom.
Lauren. Bob, and the staff handled every detail with thoughtfulness and kindness. They saw to everything we asked for and even to things we had not thought of ourselves. This sad time in our lives was made so much easier. Thank you.

Today a funeral service for Dad.
Many, many beautiful, personal touches were tended to by Lauren and her staff of Kate, Nick, Emily, and Shay. Everyone is so kind and patient.
We all appreciate your care so much.
Thank you.
From the moment Nick walked into my Mother's home to allow her to make her own arrangements, I will forever feel gratitude. Always there to answer all my questions...his response was immediate. The day my Mom transitioned he came to bring her to Plantsville FH. He and Kate met with my daughter and I to complete plans. They presented and thought everything through, following all Mom's wishes to a tee. Thank you for all you did and do. So personal. So loving ❤️..My blessings to all at Plantsville Funeral Home.
