The Parc has been the best apartment I’ve ever lived at, but it also is the most expensive I’ve lived at because Princeton itself is more expensive than where I’m from. I think they keep the place looking nice and maintenance is usually pretty on top of things. I don’t call maintenance a lot though. It’s not super convenient, but having the trash at a central location outside of the buildings is nice. Keeps the buildings nicer.
The ample light in the apartments is what won me over. Lots of windows that overcomes the lack of ceiling lighting in the bedroom and living room. Having a balcony so large is really nice. It has plenty of room for a table and a few chairs with some plants, etc. my only complaint about the apartments themselves are that if you have upstairs neighbors that are heavy-footed… you WILL hear them loud and clear. They walls don’t seem bad, but the ceilings are surprisingly thin. While annoying, it’s a known risk in getting an apartment.
The location is very pretty and located incredibly well. A couple minutes to Trader Joe’s, a small mall, and soon a Starbucks. Target and a larger mall are within 10 minutes and the university is 15 minutes away if you want to go to a higher end restaurant that’s not just a chain. Other than the loud upstairs neighbor, I can’t say I’ve had a regret. I wish it were cheaper, but I moved at a horrible time.
Tanya is incredibly responsive and stays late to help you if you catch her while she’s leaving, which is usually fairly late. She’s nice and welcoming, and apart from 2 maintenance staff (that also are very active) and maybe another office staffer, the person I see most. Shes active in making sure the buildings actually look like the pictures they post (in the summer… in the winter it’s still nice but I’m not used to the northern winters being so dreary). It just seems like they have it together compared to any apartment I’ve previously lived at.
An update closer to the end of my first year lease: still love it. Wonderful neighborhood that is growing. I got annoyed that they limited parking in the front of the apartments to reserve space for the businesses that are going in, but there is plenty of parking (just a bit farther away).
I felt compelled to address some of the comments because I got an email saying my review was getting attention. The coffee machine in the lobby is never broken from my experience but it’s often running low or out of drink mixes. I’ve never had issues with the staff being rude to me but I’ve gotten plenty of emails where the staff ask residents to stop smoking, stop letting children jump on furniture, etc. the package room is a mess but that is mostly the carriers fault. The staff actually go in daily and clean it up which I’ve never seen apartment staff do in anywhere I have stayed or my friends have stayed. So while I still think the prices are a bit high, and my rent has even gone up for the next lease, I still think it’s a great place to live. There’s a trio of people who meet up with their dogs outside at like 9 pm and the dogs bark, there are children being children at the bus stop in the morning, people actively use the common areas, etc. Granted, I rarely call maintenance and have been delaying calling maintenance for the relatively low water pressure. Other than that, the utilities are solid, PSEG subsidizes smart thermostats that the apartment had maintenance install. I’m sure there are issues but I haven’t had any other than timing and pricing of my lease.
