Otimo in my opinion is one of the best bjj schools in the area for kids. While other schools may also provide a strong bjj foundation based on techniques, Chad's teachings are unique in that he is a yogi who is also a great bjj instructor. His kids bjj lessons are always organically infused with mindfulness and self-awareness training as he pushes the kids to excel physically.

Chad is fantastic with kids. This is important, because not every great bjj instructor can teach young kids well. My children - 11 and 9 year olds - have been training with Chad for over 2 years. With his guidance and care, my son, a nature-loving, delicate soul who hated all sports, roughness and any perceived violence, now loves bjj and the sense of family that he has with his teacher and peers. I have seen my kids' interest and skills in bjj increase significantly. More importantly, I believe these 3x a week classes have transformed their ability to manage anxiety, increased their self-possession and experience a deeper connection to and acceptance of themselves and those around them.

Chad's kids classes are small, typically between 4 to 8 kids. He coaches with 1 or 2 assistants typically, which enables them to give personal attention to each kid. Chad is highly attuned to each kid's personality, and modulates his teachings in ways that would resonate with the child. Whether you're interested in bjj for kids for self-defense, exercise, or just something to try out to see if this is a lifestyle that might work for your kids, I highly recommend Otimo.

Otimo Jiu Jitsu is an amazing place! Professor Chad is an awesome instructor and practitioner. The atmosphere here is very welcoming and the instruction from both Professor Chad and the senior students is incredibly helpful. They take their time with each individual student and are very helpful and incredibly patient. I'm very fortunate to be training in such a great place with so many great people! I highly recommend Otimo Jiu Jitsu! See you on the mat! OSS!

Phenomenal place to train. Chad is an incredible instructor. His method of teaching is engaging and simple to understand while imparting lessons that train you for the mat and for life. Highly recommend Otimo.

Professor Chad creates an environment that focuses on technical development, positive mindset, and patience. He utilizes his extensive BJJ background and supplements his unique (and effective) curriculum with his other disciplines...including but not limited to yoga, wrestling, judo, aikido, and tai chi. In working with Professor Chad for the past few years, I've seen a significant amount of refinement in my development and performance, along with a huge boost in motivation that has positively impacted other areas of my life including other athletics, work, and most importantly family. In addition, Otimo has a diverse group of folks with positive attitudes and a true team mentality focusing on mutual development. Whether your goal is to compete in BJJ tournaments, improve your self defense, or indulge in a new hobby, Otimo is a great place to begin or continue your journey!

Great BJJ environment for anyone looking to either begin or continue their Jiu Jitsu journey. Chad, the owner, is a great coach and makes everyone feel welcome regardless of their experience level. He also incorporates lots of wrestling and judo into his classes which is something that is hard to find at other gyms.
