This is near my house, and I've been coming here for about 30 years. It gets better every year. For kids, the hobby railroad is extraordinary, the treehouse is too. But the trees and the gardens are the real reason to come... If you are ever in Chestnut Hill, go there!
Morris Arboretum & Gardens of the University of Pennsylvania is a beautiful area to explore near Philadelphia, PA. The grounds are quite expansive and display a variety of plants and garden styles. You could easily spend several hours venturing through the 92- acre historic area. The only downside I would say is the pricing now at $20! I think, especially since the gardens are on the university grounds, that the pricing should be much more accessible to everyone, but I guess they need to keep it selective somehow.
Beautiful place!! I don't know why I have never visited before but my bf and I really enjoyed it. He even wants to get a membership! We went on a sunday and bought tickets ahead of time. Getting in was no problem and there was plenty of parking. The grounds were massive and it wasn't overly crowded at all. The arboretum is amazing and clearly a lot of care is taken to maintain it. My favorites were the redwoods, the swans, and a little butterfly area among the flowers. Would def recommend to others and we will be back.
Excellent arboretum with a wide variety of things to see and do. Model trains and an elevated platform in the trees to pleasant walks among gardens and open grasslands. Indoor areas have ferns and other flora. Really nice for walks with accessible parking, vending and indoor areas to shelter from the weather. Suitable for all ages and interests - recommended if you enjoy curated outdoor spaces.
This was an amazing place. We had come here to do a hike but 3hrs later we were still walking around looking at all the beautiful gardens , the flowers were in full bloom and magnificent. We were speaking with one of the guides, Irv. He explained how Morris Arboretum and gardens came to be and took us for a tour of the enclosed Japanese gardens. Irv made the place come alive!.
There was a small gift shop open and the bathrooms are immaculate. The place is meticulously maintained and there is plenty of parking. There is an admission fee but it is well worth it.
