Great spot for a beach day or a walk! Parking is free for CT cars if you are out of state during the open season you will have to pay.
Love this beach! This is a more rocky side of Hammonasset Beach State park. It's a bit more remote. This is a good place for a walk, enjoying vistas, and enjoying a more secluded beach experience. This is hilly and rocky so not well suited for carriages, wheel chairs, or those with walking issues. You should also take care not to brush against the poison ivy. It grows abundantly along trails and even between some of the rocks. Note that parking here is limited to a smallish lit holding about 25 cars. In season you will likely park in the larger Meigs Nature Center which has a field for overflow parking and thus a larger capacity. It's about a 5 minute walk. Off season spaces are often available. Beautiful spot, I enjoy this part of the park very much.
Part of Hammonnassett Beach/Park. Meigs point is my favorite spot. My secret. I ONLY go in the winter. Mid January need my beach air, vitamin sea. This is it. So peaceful and serene. Every winter at least once without fail.
Meigs Point is a beautiful place to relax and enjoy Mother Nature. In season the cost for nonresident is $15.00.Off-season it is free. It is free for Connecticut residents all year. They do offer season passes. If you like to camp they have large sites available. There are public restrooms as well as parking. I would highly recommend Meigs Point!
The Moraine Trail is absolutely beautiful! Just about 1/2 mile long one way, it takes you along the water the whole way - from an elevated view to water level. Towards the end, you get views of the marsh on your left. Definitely recommend taking a few minutes to walk this trail while you're at Hammonasset.
