Coleen James is a special education teacher who runs the school out of her home. My son has dyslexia and Aspergers and thrived in her program for three years. He had been very anxious and miserable in his public school, and we sent him to Coleen because she provided such great support for social/emotional needs. What we later learned is that she is a great teacher for academics as well, remediating his reading disability and ensuring he was on or above grade level when he returned to public school for Grade 6. My son became a straight A student!
There were 4-6 other children in the program, ranging in ages 8-13. During warm months, the kids go to the pool daily for PE. (And yes, Coleen also taught my son to swim.) Additional teachers came into the school to teach art and music.
In short, Coleen saved my son's life. She provided a structured and nurturing environment that provided exactly what he needed with fees we could afford. I cannot recommend her more highly.
