  Stopped by for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. A gentleman was playing Shakuhachi in the tea house.

  A small, well maintained, tranquil escape tucked in an area that's usually known for being a densely packed suburbia. Please do read the brochure, particularly on how the stepping stones are meant to slow you down to a slow strolling pace. If you take this as a hiking trail, or worse, as a trail run, I doubt it will take longer than 5 minutes. Take a stroll, sit down, unwind - and you will get better utilization from this garden.

  A 7-acre garden built by the US Ambassador to Austria, John P. Humes, after a visit to Japan. The garden was opened to the public in 1986 after the passing of Mr. Humes, and was acquired by North Shore Land Alliance in 2017.
  
  The garden, while small, is exquisite in its detail and one can slowly walk over the stepping stones and admire the various stone lanterns, ponds and the tea room in the middle of the garden. It rivals the Japanese gardens of many large botanical gardens in quality.
  
  It's only open for a short few hours on weekends, so make sure to stop by if you're in the area then.

  Third time is a charm. We tried visiting this place last summer twice with no luck. I trusted the new suggested hours since I really wanted to go. I'm glad I did.
  Beautiful and tranquil place. It's a short stroll but it's up to you to make the most of your visit. I miss Japan and I enjoyed every single bit of the garden. Don't forget to put on bug spray.
