(December 31, 2022, 1:56 pm)Island Om is a gem of a gem on Roosevelt Island. It is a beautifully appointed space, perfect for the study of yoga, pilates and meditation. The classes and the teachers are superb. I came once and was hooked and have been coming for a year. I work with Ying one -on-one; she is precise, patient, creative, and supportive and makes the very hard work we do together fun (I do not find exercise fun so this is truly big). I am stronger now than I ever thought I could be! A bonus to coming here are the inspiring missives Jax, the owner writes regularly. They provide uplift and balm in this troubled world of ours.

(October 19, 2022, 8:34 am)Island OM has provided much more than a convenient place to work out and practice yoga. Along with that, this friendly and inviting space has done wonders to boost the community vibe of Roosevelt Island as a whole. We are a tight knit neighborhood, but all residents know that RI is desperate for more action on Main Street. Island OM provides that extra spot to interact with your neighbors and make new friends. I find that since I began frequenting Island OM, people who had once been familiar strangers are now actual acquaintances and my days are filled with a positive sense of belonging. My typical routine is to hit Kundalini Yoga on Saturday mornings -- taught by Natasha, who is awesome and profound -- but there is a full and diverse schedule of classes throughout the week. Highly recommended!

(September 13, 2022, 11:21 am)I recently attended Jax's new yoga class, Sunrise OM. She's trying out a morning class on Tuesdays which works out perfectly for morning commuters! It was the perfect way for me to incorporate my yoga practice at the start of my workday! It's a flow class & Jax was attentive to individual needs & challenges within the class (I have bad knees).....I recommend this to a perfect start to anyone's workday!

(May 19, 2022, 7:27 pm)I've belonged to a lot of gyms over the years, and taken yoga from a lot of teachers, and I'd say I have high standards when it comes to workout classes. Island OM is a beautiful facility (the yoga room is so serene and calming) and the teachers are top notch. Nobody is phoning it in here - you'll get individual attention and modifications to make sure you're getting the most out of your class. It's no wonder such a friendly community has formed around this place - it's truly a gem.
