  A surprisingly good time for a visit to a state park the bathrooms are well maintained the swimming area is clean and there is plenty of picnic space underneath the trees. The swimming area could be a little bit deeper water and the potholes have not been fixed for years in the parking lot but those are the only drawbacks to an otherwise very pleasant experience. Free for Connecticut residents

  This is a state park so if you have a license plate from CT it is free during the summer and free for everyone after Labor Day to Memorial Day.
  They have a boat launch and lots of beach access, as well as many many picnic options. There are some fields for playing in (although some do get turned into parking) and volleyball court. Also some grills to cook food.
  There are bathrooms, but there are closed during the off season with porto potties available instead.
  Across the street from the park entrance is a trail head and I believe dogs are allowed both on the trails and in the park.
  There are also dumpsters in a few places for easy throw away.
  If the beach part is full, continue on down and you will see more picnic area and other options for playing and activities.
  Great place to bring kids and family! We saw a bald eagle swoop down and fish pop up for bugs.
  Come and enjoy some nature without too much hassle.

  This picturesque park is a serene retreat with a meandering river, winding trails, and tall evergreen trees. Perfect for picnics, hiking, and reconnecting with nature.

  This place was very nice it was pretty clean and quiet I was there during the morning though and it was early. This was also during the week so I don't know how busy it was on the weekends, I imagine busy. There was quite a contingency of Canadian geese.
