We had to make the difficult decision to say goodbye to our 13-year old boy, Bailey. We had a few false alarms prior to our final booking, and Jasmine was incredibly responsive and helpful, and understanding when we asked questions or requested schedule info and then went quiet, while he seemed to be on the up and up. Dr. Dana Schechter helped us say our goodbye’s to Bailey, clearly explained the process, and let us have all the time we needed with him. This is a difficult process I don’t hope to go through again any time soon, but when that day comes, we’ll certainly call on the team here again.
Our elderly cat, Shadow, had been in declining health for several months, but got suddenly worse over the course of a couple days. We had discussed keeping him comfortable, but by the time we decided Shadow was telling us it was time, it was after 5pm on a Friday. We were grateful to find that HomeHeart Vets could send Dr. Dana Schechter to our home in Queens, NY, on Saturday afternoon to help ease Shadow's passing.
Dr. Dana was compassionate and efficient, and performed her work skillfully & with great consideration for Shadow's comfort. Everything was explained to us before and during the process.
HomeHeart offers several options for cremation/"aftercare", but we elected to bury Shadow in a special spot in our garden. We received a thoughtful follow-up card in the mail. I would not hesitate to call HomeHeart again for this important service.
(Here are a couple photos of our beloved rascal in more youthful times.)
I will be forever grateful to Jasmine, Dr. Holland and the vet tech, who helped our sweet boy, Tucker, to have a peaceful, gentle, respectful end of life in our own home. Dr. Holland was kind, professional, compassionate and made an extremely difficult day so much better than we’d ever expected. She immediately bonded with our sweet dog and put us all at ease. I cannot thank them enough and highly recommend Home Heart Vets.
As good as you can put down your pet, this is it. I had a 20 year old German Shepherd Husky mix who was...tired. She was never in pain, but she was obviously at the end.
Everyone from Home Heart was so professional, caring and the whole event was smooth. I was given the run down, my dog was able to sit up once, so we all have her a hug. They kept my mind occupied: I was speaking about my dog from the day I found her at the shelter, to going out to bars, parties road trips, moving, how friends would ask to babysit my easygoing 50 pound pup... She was the best dog and everyone loved her.
Next thing I know, the Dr said "she's fading...she's gone"
It was all so gentle, my tears stopped.
It was a good run, Pita. You lived a full life and left it with dignity, love and at home.
Zero regrets, and Home Heart affirmed it.
Well done
Dr. Samantha Shone was truly an angel sent from above… she was sweet, soft spoken, gentle, loving, compassionate and so kind to us and our beloved Lulu who passed away at 18 years of age on Saturday.
She explained every step with such a gentle, soothing and caring tone. I’m so grateful that Dr. Shone entered our lives on April 23rd…It was the most difficult decision that I ever had to make but Dr. Shone eased my pain and anxiety by touching my baby in such a gentle and caring way. I held my baby in my arms as Dr. Shone stroked and soothed her…it was tranquil... My baby was ready to go….I couldn’t have asked for a more gentle and kind ending…
Lulu lived a beautiful life and so richly deserved such a peaceful, gentle and pain free passing. Goodbye my Lulu, my angel…Mama loves you...Until we meet again 💔
