Square Orange and white trail around the river across the two bridges. 1.7 miles mostly flat with some excellent views of the river and falling streams. Farthest bridge has three flights of stairs from the river to trail. The yellow circle trail leading to scenic overlook starts to right of main parking lot - easily missed. Starts at a nice climb. Continuous to ridge line. This preserve is excellent for different types of walks. Dogs on leashes. Parking lot holds 30 cars. Their is a smaller lot that has its own trail head entrance. No bathrooms. No water.
It's definitely a very pretty spot, with much to offer in terms of trails, a suspended bridge, river views etc. The map is a little challenging to follow, unless you know already the trail. But the chances of getting "lost" are fortunately slim
This hike is a great way to get some exercise and enjoy the quiet and peaceful outdoors. There are many different trail options and every trail we traveled was well-maintained. Plus, there are plenty of places to rest along the way.
A few highlights:
The suspension bridge, just a few yards away from the entrance of the trail. It is a stunning piece of architechture.
The quartz mine, took a bit to hike out there, but worth it. It was a beautiful site with quartz pieces all over the ground and a huge chunk of quartz lining the path.
The pinnacle, our last stop on this hike. It was mostly an uphill hike from the quartz mine and, once at the top, has stunning views of the surrounding area.
I would definitely recommend this hike.
Note:
There is no bathroom/porta-potty.
Wish I had more time to explore this awesome looking place. It is peaceful and quiet. The Henry David Thoreau bridge is super easy to access, just a short walk from the parking lot.
One of the nicest, and prettiest hikes I have been on in a long time. Lots of amazing views, and interesting trails to take.
