I was struggling to trust a company with my sons therapy. I came across Helping Hands after so many other places failed us. I say failed because they were not in it for the reasons we thought. I would say that I am so happy those places did not work out. Because I don’t know where my sim would be without Haloing Hands. They have done an incredible job from the time that he was completely non verbal to reading at a 1st grade level and he is just 5 yrs old. He has build so many of his weaknesses and let me just say he has hit all milestones set for him. I couldn’t be happier with this company. Please know if you’re looking for a company that is in for the right reasons then that would be here at Helping Hands! I am so grateful for all their love and attention for my Jr. Thank you!
I was filled with apprehension at the idea of sending my non-verbal, special needs toddler to HHF for 20 hours/week. But I stepped inside the clinic and I was very impressed with the setup. But even the clinic pales in comparison to the staff. Our BCBA, Emily, is lovely, and is really in-tune with our child (and us!) emotionally as well as developmentally and behaviorally, and I really appreciate that holistic approach - this isn't one of Pavlov's puppies, this is my baby. She updates me regularly; they always ask permission for extra-ordinary circumstances (a sugary treat, for example); she is always accessible - I've emailed nights and weekends with zero expectation of a reply until the work day but she always gets back to me; and I really feel like she's connected to and invested in our child.
And the RBTs who are in the trenches with him everyday are also fantastic. Rachel is a particular favorite of ours but they are all wonderful with him. Each one communicates his progress at the end of session, and seem to genuinely enjoy their career choice, and maybe even my child (I know, I'm biased).
As for the clinic itself, I also really appreciate their transparency. They somehow manage to abide by HIPPA without alienating parents ... I'm told that he had fun "with friends" and I was recently invited in to play with him for an hour because he's been struggling leaving the family (but still runs inside with barely a wave once he sees his RBT!). There are also rooms with two-way mirrors I was told I could utilize if I desired.
Our child is also visually impaired and when I mentioned a 3D puzzle might be better for him, without missing a beat, they said they'd order one.
They also go with us in the community as needed to address our concerns for him. Those trips have always been very positive and reassuring. They have also included our older son and have been very kind and accommodating to him as well.
We saw a difference in our son within 2 weeks. And not just behaviorally!! He went from verbalizing about 3 words to babbling, and verbalizing a LOT more, as well as using more sophisticated gestures. This is all more than his speech therapists were able to accomplish in over a year. And, to be clear, HHF isn't providing speech therapy services - they're just doing their thing and supporting him with his AAC device and whatever other directives come from third party speech therapy. Within a month, he was saying "mama" for the first time. He now says "my mama" and "my daddy." These milestones are just ... priceless.
I am very picky. Especially when it comes to my children. I can't say enough good things about HHF. The *only* drawback - if I had to name one - is that there's no access to outdoor recreation for the children. Which is compounded by the fact that there's a daycare beneath them with not one but two yards and it kills my little outdoorsman to see play equipment he can't use.
We love the care, attention to detail, and pro-active strategies that Helping Hands have provided to our child. The staff is truly committed to the children in their care, and we are particularly grateful to Jenny, Mikayla, Noelle, and Tyler. I’m less than a month, we see our child making steady gains, developing confidence, and attaining his goals. Communication with staff is excellent! I highly recommend Helping Hands!
Great place. My daughter loves it. Everyone is so friendly.
Amazing and great with my daughter. Saw solid improvements since she started here.
