(July 12, 2022, 2:31 pm)Hartshorne Woods Park is a beautiful hilly wooded 794 acre site overlooking the Navesink River. This park is one of the highest elevations along the Atlantic Coast and was a coastal defense site for the NY harbor because of this. I was able to climb to the top of the Lewis Overlook and enjoy the scenic views. It’s a great place to run, ride your bike and walk your dog. The trees provide a lot of shade. You can stay on the wide paved paths or venture in the woods. Fun Fact: Hartshorne Woods Park has the most extensive and challenging trails in the Monmouth County Park System; over 15 miles.

(February 28, 2022, 10:24 am)Loved strolling through this park. It had paved trails as well as more interior dirt paths. Views are awesome. Good for taking kids along and learn some history along the way. Views of Sandy hook, WWII bunkers, visit to the twin towers (light houses) historic site.

(August 7, 2021, 3:19 pm)What a fantastic and free park. The paved trail is really great work walking, running and, biking and I love all the wooded unpaved trails. There is even a small beach with calm water that is a great to take a break at. The bathroom at the main parking lot is clean and brand new. We will come back often.
