  I'm updating this review. I played on Saturday June 3 and had a pleasant round under 4 and a half hours. I'll take that on a Saturday.. So maybe the 5 hour and 20 minute ordeal cited in my original review was an outlier.
  
  I had an 8:50 am tee time today Thursday June 1 for Blue / White course. I finished at 2:12 PM. Is pace of play no longer a priority? Not a ranger in site all day. We called the pro shop on the 3rd hole and nothing changed. A course packed full of paying golfers and no ranger enforcing pace of play resulting in a 5 hour and 20 minute round on a random weekday is not acceptable. Course condition is fine, but plan for a 5+ hour round.

  Another great county course. Two 18s here. Red & Gold course is the more difficult of the two. Most of the tee boxes and a handful of bunkers need work but the fairways and greens are in great shape.

  A golf course with really 4 nines, all with different characteristics. From being hilly and tree lined, to being flat and brutally windy. The grounds crew makes magic, being all the golf the course gets. This is a beautiful and challenging muni in Morris County. Always looking forward to a round here and seeing the staff. Some of the starters are hilarious in all the best ways.

  Quite a nice golf course! Actually, there’s four nine hole courses, and they’re paired in Blue-White and Gold-Red. There were MANY starters, so be ready to show your receipt for everything. With that, our tee time was at 3:40, but due to the group in front of us’s slow play, we didn’t tee off until 3:52. Did the rangers do anything? No, because there were no rangers. I still can’t believe it took my foursome over 2hrs45 min for the front nine. The course itself had some questionable pin placements, such as right on the peak of a slope. Unfair pin placements for a recently aerated green. Fairways were excellent! Overall, for a 36 hole facility, there absolutely needs to be rangers monitoring pace of play, but nonetheless, great conditions and nicely designed holes.

  I have been playing this course since the early 1980’s. My Uncle was a starter here until his death. This was a family course for my father, my my uncles, my best friend and myself. This is one they had 27 holes. I believe there’s 36 now.
  To get a starting time for the weekend, you arrived the night before, and took the first available parking slot. At 5 AM, you would get a knock on the driver’s side window and get handed a number.
  We all would make our way down to the pro shop and would be called in order to select you’re starting time. My father liked to play Sunday morning, at 8:08. I made sure he had that slot. For my efforts, my dad, and two uncles paid the cost of my round.
  The red nine was my favorite. I once played with a man who shot a double eagle on red number two. That man went on to tally a 106 for the day.
  FVGC was once rated in Golf Digest, among the best 100 public golf courses. You can’t go wrong playing FVGC.
