  Fred and I are going on 7 years now and we are so glad we made the move. We are well taken care of and it has alleviated a lot of pressure on our children. Bridge and music are our favorite things to do but there are so many other activities you can certainly fill your days easily. Pickleball and Kayaking are new exciting experiences for me. I love working in the gardens and Fred is happy being in the apartment with no worries about what to do if something goes wrong. The staff takes care of it all.

  My wife and I moved to Evergreen Woods two years ago. I was initially skeptical about the change. HOWEVER…it was a great decision. The staff are caring and professional. The facilities are well kept. The campus is surrounded by wooded and open spaces . We are allowed to have our treasured Springer Spaniel. And..last but not least…it is truly an inclusive community and we have formed many new wonderful friendships.

  In 2021 our son and daughter-in-law suggested we consider putting our plans in place while we could. At the time we were in Florida and our plan was to return to Connecticut to be close to our son and his family. Grandchildren are truly magnets!
  
  Our wonderful daughter-in-law provided us with locations where we could “age” without any more moves. Our son visited many and always presented observations without directing us to any specific community.
  
  In June we drove north to their home in CT and began our visits. We visited 4 communities that we liked on the internet.
  
  By far Evergreen Woods was #1!
  -Apartments were larger than any other location
  -Amenities: library; wonderful auditorium for concerts, etc; indoor swimming pool; a variety of exercise programs; in house hair salon and barber shop; car service; classes: from art to current events, etc; pet friendly; well kept grounds; individual gardens for residents; trips; on and on and on
  -In house Health Center and Assisted Living
  -Outstanding Staff!
  -Delightful meals, plenty of choices, seasonal menus
  
  The best by far, however, are the residents. Extremely welcoming to those who are new. What could be more welcoming than being invited to join a table not only for a meal but to make new friends!
  
  There is much more to say about Evergreen Woods but it’s time for me to say check it out and see for yourself!

  Moving From Hamden To Evergreen Woods
  
  It became clear to me after my husband passed that I had to get out of my five bedroom house. I knew of three facilities; Evergreen Woods, Essex Meadows and Whitney Center.
  I knew Evergreen Woods best as I had more friends living there.
  
  I contacted Evergreen Woods and Susie Nolan showed me around. As I passed through the hallways many residents asked if I was looking and commented, “Oh you’ll love it here.”
  Susie also said, “You could start your own Sorority here as you know so many people..”
  I found Evergreen Woods to be the friendliest of the three. Because it is only 20 minutes from New Haven it meant I did not have to change doctors or my living habits
  
  Evergreen Woods is a beautiful facility on the Shoreline, surrounded by woods with walking trails, and a ring road. There is a beautiful pool and hot tub, an exercise room with machines, a beauty salon, a store and a mail room. There is an area on the second floor with ping pong and pool tables. There is an Auditorium for numerous activities such as movies, exercise classes,
  concerts, talks, bingo, etc.
  
  Connected to the beautiful dining room is the club room with a bar, TV and a Piano. The connecting hallways means walking in all the buildings without going outside is an opportunity.
  
  So come visit our beautiful campus, walk our ring road with colorful gardens and meet our friendly staff and residents!
