I entered Emu Canyon Park with several severe ailments, and as soon as my eyes fell upon Bucky the Emu, I was cured. All joint pain—gone. Cataracts—disappeared. Heart murmur—what heart murmur? I am a new man. When I pet Bucky’s luscious feathers, I actually ascended from this limited physical plane and saw myself from above. I can now see colors that I couldn’t see before. I understand the meaning of life and its suffering. When Bucky looked into my eyes, I was transported to a space many dimensions away and actually spoke to God. Perhaps you thought His messenger was the angel Gabriel? Think again—it’s Bucky. Bucky whispered the secrets of the universe into my ear with a voice so sweet I burst into tears. I am truly a changed man. Also, when Chanterelle the pig oinked at me, all traces of depression and sadness within me vanished. I see the world in a new light. Thank you, Emu Canyon Park.
Stopped by after spending the early afternoon in Philadelphia. I called the owner upon arriving just to make sure we were in the right place. Very nice couple who shared their fur and feathered pets (ducks, a cat, a dog, a pig, and of course Bucky the emu)! What an odd but beautiful friendship the animals have with each other. It was our first time seeing an emu up close and all I can say is Bucky set the bar high for any future emu encounters. Super sociable and a character all his own. Thank you for offering this experience and the beautiful conversations.
Thanks everyone for the (sometimes facetious) reviews! For everyone else, FYI, this is not a commercial establishment, but you are welcome to come by and see the Bucky the Emu!
Such a variety of creatures!! Our favorite part was the hatchery, where we saw a chick emerge from its shell!! Would have given five stars, but our visit was marred by tragedy. Another visitor strayed too close to the birds and was set upon by an angry mob!! They pecked him clean to the bone!! On the plus side, the restrooms were sparkling clean!!
Staff is friendly and accommodating. Occasional food offerings are out of the world, including duck egg ice cream and fresh bread. Parking can be challenging. Call ahead for hours. Pick up after your dog.
