(April 21, 2023, 1:51 pm)Colton Brown Training Center has slowly “rolled” into a place I am able to call my second home. There is an overwhelming sense of community in the school and classes. I’m currently enrolled as a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) student at the school and have been here for about half a year.
Starting out as someone with limited experience in the grappling/wrestling/judo/jiu-jitsu world, I was a bit overwhelmed and wasn’t fully sure what to expect. But Colton and the respective BJJ instructors (Rob, Scott, Earl) have been exceptionally patient and willing to teach those who are ready to learn and start their jiujitsu journey. There is a lot of pride in the program and in teaching from the various instructors.
Colton is primarily the school’s Judo instructor (and an exceptional, kind-hearted and dedicated individual and coach) but occasionally drops into a BJJ class to roll with the students and engage with them. He is extremely hands on and works just as hard as anyone else on the mat. If Colton is putting you through a challenge, it is only because he would do it to himself and he knows your capabilities.
Overall, I would happily recommend CTBC for the currently offered programs (judo and jiujitsu) to anyone with an interest in grapple arts! -

While visiting my parents for Thanksgiving, I discovered that this gym just opened up in the last couple of months. I dropped into a nogi class taught by Joe and was impressed by the facility, the instruction, and the high quality training that I received.
As a smaller woman who’s dropping into an unfamiliar gym, I wasn’t sure what to expect and didn’t want to risk potential injury. However, Joe put me immediately at ease and it was clear that he is a super technical and fantastic instructor who clearly looks out for our safety. I only went to one class but I could tell the culture here is excellent.
I am excited to come back and train whenever I’m in town visiting my parents. This gym is very welcoming, clean, safe, and for everyone! -

(July 20, 2022, 11:00 pm)Colton Brown Training Center is an amazing academy. Colton is not only a 2x Judo Olympian, but a fantastic teacher. He pays great attention to detail and nuance when teaching his classes. The kids’ classes are a perfect combination of world class instruction mixed with games and calisthenics to keep the students engaged. In addition to the judo classes, they also have a top notch Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program for adults and kids taught by an awesome group of instructors.
My kids love going and are so fortunate to have an academy where they can learn Judo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in a safe and fun environment in the same location. -

(May 10, 2022, 12:10 pm)How fortunate we are to have two-time Olympian Colton Brown + team teaching our family judo and BJJ. It’s not every day one gets to learn from someone like Colton. He is both humble and inspiring to watch. My kids, who are normally glued to their screens, hustle to get to his classes! He’s an amazing coach who gives 110% of himself to make each class count--with a mix of techniques, humor and lessons pulled straight from his training and life experiences.

(April 5, 2022, 5:43 pm)As someone new to Judo, I had been looking for a gym local and convenient for a long time. I finally found it! And what better way to learn then to be taught by a 2X Olympian! Colton is an awesome guy, extremely knowledgeable, and has a passion for teaching. You can tell how excited he gets when people execute new moves well. 10/10 would definitely recommend anyone to come and try a class!
