  Went in to check the sizing on a pair of momotaro jeans. Store is laid back with a well curated selection. The staff was helpful, patient and very knowledgeable. I'm definitely going to shop again, especially with their loyalty program for both in store and online

  Located in the idyllic Maplewood Village, City Workshop is a gem that I recently came across while finding a place to get my new Naked and Famous Japanese denim hemmed by professionals in the genre. City Workshop has exceeded my expectations in many ways.
  
  The co-owner, Roger, was very accommodating and greets you on the way in, wearing his own amazing personal style, guiding you, and asking the right questions. The seamstress N’namdi was very skilled, nice, and helpful. N’namdi’s hemming was prompt, at an unbeatable price, and the workmanship was beautifully done, with a classic chainstitch using a Union Special, despite my overly thick Japanese denim.
  
  As for the store itself, you can expect to see a beautiful bespoke collection of local (NYC Brands) and import (Japanese Brands) clothing items, bags, and footwear. This is the type of specialized place that you might find in Soho, but right in our home state of NJ, without the need to take a $25 commute into the city. The prices are what you’d expect from the unmatched quality of each clothing article, made to last a lifetime. I had to hold myself back to NOT buy anything, but needless to say, I will be back! The stuff they feature are all super enticing.

  So let me start off by saying that I am a complete newb when it comes to the whole raw/selvedge denim stuff. A little while back I was doing some research and and I got hooked. Turns out all along my “style” reflects that of the heritage style but this takes it to another level. On to my visit. I came across this shop just with a simple Google search and decided to check it out. Well I’m glad I did because the experience was absolutely unbelievable. As soon as I walked in I was taken away by the amount of denim they stock. Shortly after I was greeted by the store manager, Robin (hope I’m spelling that right), and I can honestly say that it was one of the most in depth conversations I’ve ever had. And it wasn’t even about our love for denim. She was absolutely amazing. If you’re into selvedge/raw or heritage denim you have to go check this spot out. I can’t wait to visit them again.

  I was aware of City Workshop from their online shop which is fantastic.
  
  But, if you can find the time to head to northern New Jersey, not far outside of NYC to check out their brick and mortar, I would totally recommend it.
  
  Roger and Josefina were awesome, made me feel totally welcome. I am a bigger guy, and admittedly some of the things I tried on just didn't fit, they did their best to try and find me some things that might work. Top notch and great conversation with them. They absolutely want you to try and touch everything.
  
  I will absolutely be purchasing more from them both on their site and in person in the future. If you like higher end men's wear, you really should too.

  Shops like these are a diamond. Having lived in nyc and still working there but knowing there’s an awesome men’s shop that’s well curated near me is amazing. The quality of the clothing and styles are great and you feel comfortable and welcome! We need to support small businesses like these!
