My girlfriend was visiting the gym with me today for the first time and we went up to one of the walls so I could teach her how to top-rope belay. Teaching someone how to belay is super easy and takes less than 10 minutes. One of the staff members quickly came and interrupted us, saying that I was not allowed to teach her. I figured it was a liability thing, and asked the staff member if she could teach her how to belay instead. She said no, the only way to learn is to take the belay class. Turns out the reason that they won't allow any teaching is that they want to make you pay $50 (!!) for the belay class. If you're planning to visit with someone, be sure to teach them how to belay elsewhere first. I've never been to a climbing gym that has this policy before and it's absolutely ridiculous. If the gym changes its policy I will happily increase my rating to 5 stars. -

(July 14, 2023, 12:34 pm)I love this gym! They have such good vibes there, great staff and tons of stuff to do. They have bouldering, top rope, lead climbing, auto belay AND a fitness area.
They have a new gym in West Hartford which is great too! But this location in Glastonbury is my favorite because of the homey vibes and more options. -

RECOMMEND this spot for an exciting change of scenery that your kids will LOVE. This will certainly tire them out! No prior reservations are necessary and you don’t have to go with a member.
