  Rain or shine just go on a full day tour! Capt. Ken made our day. Incredibly knowledgeable and was so kind and generous with his support in our limited fly fishing history. Our 13 yo came with us and Ken was kind and patient with him. I learned so much in our tour about how to become a better fisherwoman and the tour was worth every single penny. We will be going on another tour soon.

  Daughter and I had a great time and caught some beautiful fish. Our Guide Matt H. was awesome super knowledgeable. Didn’t just teach my daughter the how to fish but why. Everything from showing her the nymphs and fly’s we were attempting to copy to what kind of places to cast. If you have a young beginner he’s the guide you want. Now she is hooked. It doesn’t hurt that he knows right where the fish are either.

  I know Ken, his wife, his daughter, and Zack. All wonderful people. They are very professional and Ken is probably the most experienced and in tune guide you will find in New York state. The only problem is there Fly Shop is great to go to... When it's opened!?! Sorry Ken but you know I'm telling the truth. Ken is usually too busy getting his customers on fish and I can't quite argue with that logic.

  I'm spending the month of April and half of May in Roscoe on a solo, DIY fly fishing trip excursion. Baxter House has become my go-to for flies, gear, conversation, and good advice. Ken's a super nice guy, and his guides are very friendly and extremely knowledgable. The prices are more than fair. Employees aren't pushy at all. And, perhaps most importantly, there is NOT that sense of elitism/arrogance/condescension that I've found so prevalent in some other fly shops across the country. Baxter House is very refreshing in this sense. They don't judge you when you walk in ---looking straight out of NYC -- asking all the absolutely idiotic questions that they've all heard a million times over. They are down to earth, and they just want to see people have fun, experience their beautiful part of the world, and hopefully get into some fish. I've been here 3 weeks and have caught nothing but a cold. That changed today when Ken's advice led me to at least a dozen big fat browns. I'm not usually the type to write reviews, but I think this place is a gem. If I weren't such a broke, deadbeat wanna-be writer, I would happily pay for a guided day trip with these guys. And would encourage anyone else to do so.
