The American Yale University was founded in 1701 AD in the state of Connecticut.
The entrance to the main library of the university has writings in hieroglyphics, Chinese, Arabic and some ancient languages.
The library stands tall at the heart of the university, and its wonderful and distinguished system is impressive, as it contains 11 million volumes on general and specialized subjects, in addition to the presence of more than 5 sections dealing with specific topics such as archives, recordings, maps, and archaeological collections.
It is the third largest library in the United States and the second largest university library in the world. It contains more than 200,000 volumes on Arab and Islamic heritage, most of which are in Arabic, as well as 500,000 volumes in European languages related to Arab and Islamic heritage.
It also contains 7,000 micro-films and 3,500 manuscripts. Despite the centralization of the system, the libraries are distributed in more than forty locations, and they are also dispersed throughout the university campus. Stirling's main library, with its imposing Gothic architecture, contains almost half of Yale's book collection, and the Binekee Rare Books and Manuscripts Library, which is of an exquisitely modern architectural style, contains more than 800,000 rare books and documents. And more than 5,000 Arabic and Islamic manuscripts.
Historically, the focus was on Arabic subjects. Today, the university is committed to expanding its library holdings to include Persian, Ottoman, and Turkish.
