  This is a nice short local hike. It's a loop that has a quick stop at the Hudson River. There is a neat old house at the trailhead and a little hut with some wildlife info as well as a trail map. There is a bit of a hill that I would bring my kids on but not my elderly parents. The whole thing took us an hour and we stopped at the river for a bit.

  I can’t believe this place has been 4 minutes from where I’ve lived for 5 years and I had no idea there were trails there. The blue trail goes through an open field, not really my thing especially when it’s hot and sunny so I stuck to the cool, breezy forest by the water trails(red and orange.) The trails are all well marked with colored flares and for the most part very well
  maintained. There was an ascending portion of the red trail that was quite narrow and overgrown but the trail was still clearly visible. Love love love the part of the orange trail that ends at a bench next to the water, fantastic view of the Rip Van Winkle bridge there, and the perfect place to stop for lunch or a snack. I walked about 1 hr and 15 min, the website says the trails are about 1.5 miles. One of these trails also connects to Cohotate Preserve, where I have hiked before:) So you could extend this into quite a longer hike if you wished.

  Loads of great trails, good for a fitness run through varied terrain. Usually nobody there, so you don't have to step to the side, just keep on cruising along the trail. Check out the old boathouse down by the river, last time I was down there there was a beer keg. There's a trail connecting it to the Cohotate Preserve across the back of an adjacent privately owned estate.
