  This is HANDS DOWN THE BEST THING IN JERSEY CITY. RIGHT NOW. This place blew my expectations. My husband found this place on line and we decided to walk here. Ironically our family live a few blocks down too. So lucky. I love Jamaican food. I used to live in Crown Heights so I’m used to jerk chicken, oxtail, Ackee. My best friend and I would go to every spot and ask for extra jerk sauce. So when my husband and I moved to Jersey City I was a bit disappointed with the few Jamaican spots that’s available. We need more. And I’m happy we got Violets. This restaurant is a labor of love and it shows. We first got curry chicken, rice and peas , jerk chicken and a side of mac and cheese. And that homemade hot sauce. Wow. That first bite BLEW MY MIND. and we got hooked. Everything we had was just so phenomenal. So today we went back. I got the sweet and spicy wings and my husband got the jerk chicken. The portions are grand and generous. There are three options to choose from. Our meals were just chef’s kiss. The ladies who works there are also amazing. They’re so sweet and just so wonderful. I want to tell the world this place exist and GO EAT HERE. We want catering done from here. We want to keep supporting this beautiful restaurant. And in my personal this is THE BEST RESTAURANT IN JERSEY CITY RIGHT NOW.

  Baby let me tell you. If you don't get anything else from GET THE CURRY CHUNKS. I promise you won't degret it. I loved everything about this place. I didn't even finish my food before writing this review. I've never tried soy before today, but my I'm definitely going back over and over again.

  Definitely a mom and pop. The service and attention to the individual was great. While the meal size I went with was a bit pricey and that may be on me the portion sizes were BIG. One larger meal along with a chicken soup was more then enough for my family of 3 with left overs me for. Great new spot love that we are getting so many different local restaurants 😀

  Violet’s just gained a repeat customer! The food is very tasty, fresh and was served with superior customer service. Very impressed and satisfied. I opted for the jerk chicken dinner however, my second choice is the curry chicken as I was able to sample it!

  I absolutely love this restaurant. I have tried the jerk chicken with rice and beans, the soup and then the beef patty. Everything was so delicious. I’m definitely coming back to try everything else on the menu. The staff was so friendly and the place is so clean. Very welcoming.
