I came in with my Hamster on a Friday night. It may sound funny/silly/ridiculous to want care for an animal like a hamster, but she has been part of our little family for 2 years. The staff here are exceptional, from the second you walk in you can see the love and respect the entire staff has for animals of any kind. They were all so sweet and kind to Hannah! She truly got the care she needed.. and is much better now!
The staff was really sweet. However, if you don’t have a lot of money, don’t come here. They wanted to charge me 3900 for an ultrasound and I paid less than that for exploratory surgery and a three day hospital stay. Don’t get me wrong if I had the money this would’ve been great! I would have loved to been able to sit with my baby throughout her care but I’m a broke college student lol. From what I gathered VEG seems to focus on more than just your pet, they also try to make the guardian feel at ease and informed. They were very sweet and when they realize that I couldn’t afford the treatment that helped me find a hospital that would perform the exploratory surgery for a price that was more reasonable for me. 3 days later my baby is home and on the mend.
Words cannot express the loving staff that this place has. The professionalism of the front desk, to the vet themselves were just so wonderful. They thoroughly explain EVERYTHING!!! From updates on how your pet is doing and the medications you have to take. I was able to see from beginning to end and I highly recommend this place if you truly love your pet because THIS is the care every pet needs. I appreciate every single one of the staff. God bless you all !! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️❤️❤️
This animal hospital was a very unique experience. The staff is super friendly and helpful and my dog wasn't scared when we walked in. Luckily we were there for a minor emergency (broken dew claw). The exam room is one large open area with exam tables spaced out evenly. Each table has a pet friendly couch for pets and their parents. I was able to be by his side and be part of the action. The dogs were able to see one another and I think that was a bit comforting to them. The reason I'm not giving 5 stars is I think this format could be problematic for dogs who are aggressive or reactivate to other dogs or strangers. I wouldn't feel comfortable bringing my cat here either, the noise and presence of so many dogs would be too stressful.
I’m still amazed how there’s actually a 24 hour veterinary emergency room that is this compassionate and with a stellar reputation. I live in Queens and I’ve read so many horror stories about the vet ER’s in my area with horrendous reviews, prayed that I would never have to visit them. Thankfully, my sister and I found VEG Carle Place the very same night. We drove my 16-17 year old maltipoo in for recurring seizures after coming home from work and finding him unresponsive and seizing. I did my best at home with what I know to help him, but came to the decision that he needed to see a vet immediately. I am a one nurse of many in my family and know excellent patient care when I see it. I carried my dog in around 2:30-3am and as I sat down in the exam area, one of the staff members noticed immediately that my dog started seizing again. She took him and they all began their care. Took vitals, started an IV, pushed meds, fluids, etc. Dr. Akayya sat down with me and truly appreciate how honest she was with me. A lot of vets out there would try and do every test under the sun immediately to try and run up the bill, but not here. Her first question to me was what our goal was with snowy. I told her that my family was going to begin making arrangements for palliative care early this week with our primary vet. This was a Saturday night/Sunday morning, so both my primary vets were closed and this was our only option. We just did not expect him to decline this much so quickly. We chose to keep him comfortable and stayed all night with our little snowy until my family could come in early morning and decided to put him to sleep. Dr. Akayya even chose to stay passed her shift to personally handle the cremation proceedings and to put him to sleep. I want to thank Dr. Akayya and the rest of this amazing team for their phenomenal care. I hope I never have to come here again, but am glad that I have a veterinary team as excellent as this to fall back on. God bless all of you!
