My father recently spent 2 weeks in Vantage. Our experience was excellent. Over the past few years several of our loved ones have been in various rehab facilities around the state so we felt fortunate that he was able to get into a place so close to us. Most times we had to drive an hour + which made daily visits impossible. Having him nearby gave us peace of mind. The social service department was so attentive to his needs and worked diligently to communicate with our family and help him get all the after care services he needs. No other facility has looked at what would be needed moving forward and taken steps to assist us in setting up proper home care. I was able to visit him twice daily and always found the staff, nurses and even other residents of Vantage to be friendly and helpful. He never complained about the food and always cleaned his plate so I assume it was good! The building and parking lot may look a little worn, but the common areas and my dad’s room were always clean and tidy. The PT department was kind and helpful. Even the housekeeping and maintenance staff we spoke with were cheerful and kind. Nursing homes and short term care facilities like these are vital to our communities but they are struggling to survive in this world where insurance companies can determine patient care over medical professionals expertise. CNA’s, LPN’s, and RN’s are overworked and short staffed everywhere. I applaud those of you who show up for those in your care and give your residents your best.
I see all these rude comments that are left by others honestly have to say that I don’t think any facility serves prime, fine dining. And you’re always more than welcome to bring a loved one some food, so don’t depend on the food here. I always bring my loved one snacks and food. And the nurses are very attentive. All you Gotta do is hit the bell. And they come.
It’s a beautiful facility and the staff members are very nice. The parking lot could use a little pavement and filling on those enormous potholes. Other than that Vantage is a lot better than other places that I have seen or had loved ones in.
Just remember they’re closing a lot of them, so be appreciative of the ones that are still taking in patients. And again it doesn’t hurt for people who have their loved ones here to bring them in some food instead of making rude comments about the food unless you’re at a five-star hotel that’s the only way you’re going to actually get good food but this is a nursing facility.
