I play this course once or twice a week and am a flex pass holder. Play this year has been notably slower than previous seasons.
We played at 5:09 after work yesterday, and by the 4th hole on Red, two groups were waiting on the tee with 2.5 holes open in front of the group that was playing with themselves on the green. Keep these people moving! I never see a ranger on the course.
Also, the rough.... woof. I get that it's supposed to be a natural penalty of sorts, but I've lost so many balls this season that were no more than 10' off the fairway simply because the rough is so long (I've found a ton of balls this way as well). This also exacerbates the slow play problem I mentioned above. The amount of time people have to spend looking for balls that are nowhere near a hazard is really disrupting the flow of things. Please do something to get play moving.

(November 3, 2021, 10:21 pm)Wonderful time at the annual charity gala that chose this long established Farmington Club as it's location and host this year. Held in a spacious outdoor pavilion with event tent sidewalls for warmth and an outdoor fire pit, there was an open bar, dinner table with a London Broil carving station, pasta, bread and circulating appetizer trays throughout the meal. The food was well prepared. There was plenty of seating with white table cloths and autumn centerpieces.
A table for patrons to purchase wrapped wines guaranteed a certain value was center place, and a stage with lectern and PA system was set up at the front end for speakers and award winners. The CCF charity had its usual photograph station, as well, for people who want to pose for photos to capture a memento from the night.
The Tunxis Country Club, opened in 1962, mostly used for its 45 hole golf course and by its members, has two places open for events on its grounds plus a full service restaurant and bar. Ample parking, country setting, convenient location, and professional service makes this a good choice for those looking for above par places to meet.
