  Giving birth at the Tru is a real gift! The staff there are trained not only in providing superb medical care, but also in outstanding genuine care, warmth, kindness, and modesty. They are extremely supportive, accommodating, and sensitive to the needs and preferences of each individual.

  I had a great experience delivering at the Birth Center! The staff was so kind, caring, and calm during labor and after! The suite I was laboring in was so welcoming and relaxing. It was a better experience than I could've ever imagined! I was in labor longer than expected, Ashley the RN came in and did some magical exercises, and in no time the baby was out.

  At first I was hesitant to give birth in the birthing center, as I couldn’t decide if it was safe enough. But after doing enough research, and after I couldn’t substantiate any of the rumors of scary stories that I heard, I felt confident enough to try. I am so grateful I did. My labor and delivery was so different and so much better than my previous hospital births. Firstly, Laboring in the tub greatly reduced my pain, so much so that I barely felt the contractions. I loved the fact that nobody was rushing me or making me nervous. The atmosphere was calm and relaxing. The nurse sat at my side the entire time, and did whatever she could to keep me comfortable. There was no anxiety involved. Even when the pushing got difficult, the staff was still calm and encouraging. And I felt so good after birth, I had no problem leaving a few hours later. It was a beautiful way to bring my child into the world.

  I had the most amazing experience at Tru Birth Center. Dr. Surowitz was calm, composed and so patient throughout the entire birth. Shaina, my nurse during delivery and subsequent house visit was caring, calm, positive, encouraging, connecting, and you could tell she personally cared about me and my birth. Sara Kurtz, my nurse after delivery was professional, caring, and so helpful.
  The staff went to all lengths to make sure I was comfortable and in the most ideal environment-putting on calming music, equipment for the bath, etc.
  Such a stark contrast to my previous birth in a hospital where the doctors kept pushing me to get induced, break my water, pushhhh the baby out, etc. This was a whole different attitude; respecting my wishes and how I wanted the birth to proceed.
  The atmosphere is oh so calm and relaxing making it really the most ideal place you want to be when birthing. Soft relaxing music, light snacks, a couch for my husband to rest on, light dimmers, big tub. It was really a dream come true for me.
  Personally, my “moment” when I realized what an impact the environment made on my birth was when my daughter was placed on me and she looked so serene and calm, eyes open and just looking at me.

  At Tru Birth Center I was finally able to have the kind of birthing experience that I always dreamed about. The midwife and nurse were so supportive and so focused on making me comfortable and ensuring that my preferences were met. For example, the nurse asked me if she could take my vitals and then waited until after a contraction to do so. The birthing room was stunning but what meant even more to me was the freedom to do what I wanted to do, in whatever position felt good and the comfort of being in a relaxed atmosphere without being strapped to a monitor and IV. During the actual birth there was no team shouting instructions at me, just a calm, supportive atmosphere. I had a much better recovery as well, after this birth. I am so grateful that we have Tru birthing Center right here in Lakewood!
