I went here a few nights ago, as a friend explained the place to me: an Italian-ish restaurant that had an inside-outside setting (with two different menus), a beer garden downstairs, with a fancier restaurant upstairs, with live music, located next to the racetrack. It seems like a lot going on at the same time and I knew my ADD would be in overdrive, but we went anyway, and boy, glad I went!!
They started with some cocktails before ordering our food. I got a rye straight up and my friend got a wonderfully fresh Tom Collins (vodka). We ordered the General Tso's calamari and zucchini flowers with buffalo mozzarella as appetizers, before we had the eggplant with rigatoni in a delicious creamy pink sauce, along with a bibb lettuce salad.
I love zucchini flowers and these were good, but there is a small window of time when you have to eat them, as they get cold fast (and the mozzarella stops being creamy and becomes too firm). They were tasty (but a little wet. The calamari was also tasty, as the GT sauce was a nice change from the traditional, although the squid did not seem the freshest. Both were pretty good.
I'm a big fan of eggplant and I was very impressed with how delicious it was and how tasty the red sauce was, and equally impressed with the rigatoni done perfectly (al dente) with the most delicious pink sauce. Very tasty. With the dinner we ordered a pretty nice bottle of Chianti Classics (although the menu listed it only as Chianti).
Beginning to end the meal was a blast. Good drinks, nice dinner, nice wine, beautiful night outside and lots going on.
Now about the entertainment: I LOVE live music and heard the band was good. They were pretty loud, but sitting outside, upstairs, a little away from them was helpful in not being overwhelmed by the music.
The band was the "Moroccan Sheepherders" and while we heard them play exciting sets of classic rock (Chicago, The Stones, Yes, Boston, ACDC, etc.), it was when we went to the downstairs lawn to see them up close that we realized how brilliant they were! A cover band with three guitars, a brass section, an organist and rotating lead singers... Are you kidding me!!!!??? They were off the chart and were not only phenomenal with their music, but they really knew how to put in a show. So many people were dancing and singing along with the music.
Overall, I would say the setting was great, the food was very good, the drinks were very nice and the live music was incredible. While I went there confused about what it would be like, I left there asking myself quickly I can get back for another evening like that! Beginning to end, it was a blast. -

(May 30, 2022, 2:22 pm)My husband and I enjoy the outdoor seating and the music. The pizza is excellent. If your looking for immediate service or a good drink not so much. I ordered a bourbon mule it was so tart from too much ginger beer and there was little to no bourbon in it. I told the manager he said he would personally make me another one then charged me for both!!!!! Basically I go for the pizza, music and being outside. The hostesses are always pleasant. Thats my take on what to expect.
