I'll preface this by stating I am a male with shorter hair. I started coming here because my girlfriend (now wife) wasn't a big fan of my cost cutter haircuts and subsequent home trims. Alot of the women I know, swear by this place as well, so I gave it a try. Tara, my hairdresser now, was given free reign on the style, more or less, when I came in and for the most part has still had that freedom for the dozens of times I've gone after. I used to think a haircut was a haircut, but Tara proved me wrong. She's phenomenal. I've waited weeks, after missing my appointment with her accidentally during a busy month, in order to get my haircut by her as I refuse to go anywhere else anymore. She somehow just makes my hair look great and also blends in my odd hairline so I don't have a fivehead anymore. I see why women become so loyal after finding a hairdresser they like.
Now I'm a man so most people reading this, will probably think my opinion of my own haircut doesn't apply to them, but she also does my wife's hair, my sisters, and a few friends as well (all by Tara, though they say Maya and Erika have both been amazing as well and apparently Erika is a true artist with makeup as well). All of them always have great looking hair and have nothing but positive things to say about this place. They also don't just get haircuts, they get coloring, highlights, styling, the whole 9 yards. Tara even did my wife's hair for our wedding last year, and god d*mn did she do an amazing job. My wife is stunning all the time but wow 😍, just wow. Her original hair style she wanted wouldn't work because of the high humidity I guess and she was all upset before she went in, but she just let Tara do her thing, and I don't think a single person noticed me at the wedding, even when it was just us standing up there. She was so happy with it and received such an insane amount of compliments, that I realized it wasn't just me who's jaw was dropping when she walked down the aisle.
Sorry for rambling but had my hair cut two days ago and Google asked me to rate my experience. I figured putting 5 stars wasn't good enough, because I'm a guy and this is a salon, not a barber shop. But unless Tara moved away, I don't think I'll ever go anywhere else. In fact, my sister in law drives from Boston every month to get her hair done (and drops her puppy off to me while she's there!) because she refuses to go to anyone else. 2hour drive each way, just because she won't let anyone else do her hair. I know Tara has a pretty hardcore following so appointments may be harder to get for new customers but the whole place seems extremely knowledgeable and professional as could be, so I'm assuming all of their hair dressers would wow you. Atmosphere is great too, as the banter sometimes has me dying laughing. All in all, it is a great place, with great people and I couldn't recommend them enough.
PS You can go upstairs after your haircut to the Parrot Emporium and they have hundreds of crazy kinds of birds. You can even pet and play with some of them. Never seen such a variety of birds before

I called Studio One and I was incredibly impressed. Not only were they able to book an appointment, the salon was able to book my appointment with a stylist who was skilled with non-traditional hair color.
Erica has done my hair 3 or 4 times. She is just the right combination of sassy and sweet. She is open to my ideas and confidently guides me towards the choice she thinks will be best for my hair and my complexion.

The people here are so wonderful. I've been going here for about 3 years. I make the commute from Belchertown now because I love this place so much. The salon is clean, the prices are reasonable, and they really work to make certain that I'm getting the services I need. The staff are also very fun. Even on busy days they're happy energies light up the salon. What a blessing to be a part of this great project.
Transitioning to grey has been very painful. Sarah was amazing at explaining the process and did a superb job at an ombre with layers to help take the focus off my grey. My hair is almost black and I cannot believe how skilled and graceful she is at her job. Thank you Studio 1 Salon Agawam!
