On a summer visit to my parents in Port Jefferson, Quality Parks drew my attention, so I emailed them because I'm very interested in using more native plants to encourage pollinators and other native species. Mindy was very responsive via email, and I left my visit with many many plants that grow well where I live near Boston. I appreciated how honest she was about the plants (i.e. any that are root bound or evidence of pests) as I'm still a novice gardener. Since they were just planted at the end of July, I wasn't expecting much flowering, but you can see that the New England aster loves it with us. I highly recommend contacting Mindy and Quality Parks; we all need to do our part in bringing back native plants and restoring the beauty and health of our world.
Bought some native plants from Mindy at Port Jefferson Sunday market. The Snakeroot and Ironweed are growing well in my front yard garden. Mindy is very knowledgeable about native plants that keep your garden thriving.
I love all my native plants from Quality Parks! It's year 3 for this Joe Pye Weed and it's reached past the top of the 6' fence, getting ready to bloom again! Great prices, healthy plants and lots of knowledge about the plants, too.
In 2014 I achieved 65 hours of sessions & service to benefit Long Island natural areas. Completing level one certification as a Quality Parks Master Naturalist. This program took me to parks that I would of never explored on my own. In addition to discovering new parks, I also was able to serve our natural resources on Long Island. Garbage clean up, to weaving eel grass! This program was educational and fun filled!
I find Quality Parks invaluable for information about parks and the environment of Long Island. It's fun to hang out with them at the Port Jefferson farmer's market. They're very knowledgeable about what plants I should use in my garden.
