(January 20, 2023, 11:06 am)Excellent example of early European settlers innovations and ingenuity. American post-revolution history and architecture on full display. Prattsville, a small community nestled in the Catskills mountains along the Schoharie Creek, tributary to the Mohawk River, eventually flowing down to the great Hudson, hides a little know fact. A short drive up the hill, past bucolic slopes to a meadow above, restored is an early Dutch-American farmhouse, the "Archer Woodchuck Lodge", made famous by John Boroughs A famed American naturalist, essayist and conservationist. The farmhouse's architecture recognized by Act of United States Congress as example of early American architecture. To be preserved in perpetuity.
