(August 25, 2023, 2:59 pm)My first visit to Pizzeria Sassano and was very pleased with the mushroom pizza that I ordered for take out. Wanted to try this place after reading about it in this month’s CT magazine article on top pizza places. They offer grinders and other Italian inspired dishes as well. Pizzas come either as red or white and offer several for vegetarians. Looking forward to going back and trying some other dishes.

(January 19, 2022, 9:08 pm)This is a takeout review. All food is eaten fresh in the vehicle. This was a tremendous food experience. I ordered meatballs and a pepperoni pizza. The meatballs were beautifully done, most and flavorful. The pizza was excellent. The crust had a great crisp on the bottom but was also chewy. A very nice sauce and good pepperoni. On a scale from 0-10 I would rate this 9.4.

(March 29, 2019, 10:58 am)Another find from a google search. This very hidden and out of the way restaurant in a little plaza is a diamond in a haystack. Super friendly server and customers. John (local farmer and in the picture on the wall) dines here about three times a week and highly suggested a few items that we ordered and enjoyed. We started with garlic cheese bread and house salad. I had the carne amore (meat lover’s) and my wife had the white mushroom pizza. I ended the meal with the most delicious apple bread pudding. I highly suggest if you are in the area. Edit November 4, 2018. We really enjoy this place and now working on our third Sunday in a row. Trying a new local root beer from Foxon Park. Plus, I ordered the mushroom pizza and added pepperoni to make a “perfect” pizza for me.

And while there are a handful of solid choices, Pizzeria Sassano has been the best. We ordered a large pepperoni, mushroom, and onion pizza and a bowl of the soup that was on special, potato leek. Both were excellent - the pizza had just the right thickness of crust, perfectly cooked bottom, generous toppings, and overall great flavor.
