Ms. Guerrero was my piano teacher around 20 years ago in the Bronx. I started taking lessons with her around 14/15 years old and had a few years of previous lessons under my belt. Up until that point I had never been to a classical show of any kind. I remember to this day, she gave me a tape with Rachmaninov’s 2nd Piano Concerto to listen to. She took me to my first show at Carnegie Hall and we sat on the left side box seats. It was the first time I had experienced the emotional experience music can conjure. It made being a pianist and performing feel tangible. I was just a little girl from the Bronx but that experience with Ms. Guerrero changed my life. I sought out classical shows on my own and ultimately became a pianist and piano teacher. The dedication and lengths she went to expose me to a world my immigrant parents didn’t know or understand was beyond any of her duties as a teacher. I also remember her taking me to a master classes at Manhattan School of Music. She gave so much of her own time to helping me understand, love and cultivate my passion for piano. I’m forever grateful to Ms. Guerrero for being more than just a teacher but a mentor at a time when I needed it the most. If you study under Ms. Guerrero you’re beyond blessed to have someone who doesn’t just teach but cares so deeply for her students. A million thank you’s Mrs. Guerrero for the unforgettable impact you had on my life.

I think there are few piano teachers who bring skill, technique, and compassionate teaching to the table in the way Renee Guerrero does. I was lucky enough to start learning from Renee when I was 11 up until the time I was 18. Before her, I had a few other teachers but they were either too harsh or too lax, not pushing me to reach for the next level or discouraging me before I even got started. Renee strikes a great balance in meeting students where they are, whether they are older or younger, eager or hesitant, beginners or aspiring professional musicians. Any student would be lucky to have her as a teacher!

Not only does Renee offer a lot to her students from a technical standpoint, but she knows the value of giving her students meaningful musical experiences. She opened up so many opportunities for me, especially in high school, inviting me and some of her other students on trips to Italy. Those were some of my most memorable summers at the Narni Music Festival and Le Stanze della Musica in Borgomale, where I had the chance to be fully immersed in music and my piano playing. These were also some of my first chances to travel abroad at a young age, experiences for which I am really grateful—and I would have never had these opportunities if not for Renee. She cares deeply about her students and their growth, not just as pianists but as people. At the end of the day, I think one of the most important things a teacher can do is instill a lifelong love of music in their students, and though I no longer take lessons, I know I’ll always have that. Thank you, Renee, and much love.

Enthusiastic, encouraging, motivational, supportive, knowledgeable, as well as a truly gifted teacher and pianist. I have been studying with Renee for about two years, coming to know her unintentionally as she took over my previous teacher's
students when he left to pursue another career. I am a busy professional and I try to squeeze some piano time into my life every week. Since I don't have lots of practice time I am often hesitant to take on challenging new pieces.
Even though I may feel intimidated by a particular piece, Renee knows intuitively how to explain the new material and techniques in a way that I can relate to. Renee's holistic approach to teaching also helps me perform for audiences. As an adult student my performance jitters can get the better of me, but Renee's encouraging and supportive teaching style inspires me
enjoy making music for others. I always feel challenged but never overwhelmed at the end of my lessons, and most importantly, I always feel positive about what I am doing and the direction I am moving in.
Renee's love for music and her enthusiasm for teaching are what motivate me to continue to share my music with others.
    Thank you Renee!!!

"Ms. Renée is a very good piano teacher because she pushes me out of my comfort zone. She is friendly and makes me feel safe.
She believes that I have talent and I always have a fun lesson."

My son started taking piano lessons with Renee remotely in the middle of the pandemic. I would have never imagined how effective these types of lessons would be. He made so much progress and maturity in his technique, and his playing improved so much. Renee is very kind and encouraging. She knew how to work with a teenager very well. It encouraged him to practice and in his own words "when she helps me, I"m able to get through difficult pieces." All his lessons were via face-time and there was never a problem. I highly recommend this wonderful teacher.
